Every job I have held, every class I have taken has prepared me to conceptualize Standard Bio Diesel and head its business operation. Even the years spent working for a delivery service, organizing the routes for maximum efficiency, now appear to be specific training for my new position. Unlike my partners I was not an early environmentalist. My passion was business and movies. I have degrees and decades worth of experience in these fields. Once I became aware of the ill effects of combusted diesel (I was already familiar with the black soot and foul smell), and how easily those problems could be remedied by using biodiesel, my path became clear. Now in addition to my love of business and film I am a passionate environmentalist. My belief is that good stewardship of the earth must also mean good business, service, and economics to be effective. Standard Bio Diesel is good business for a better environment.

Common sense dictates that we have to look after the planet we live on, if we want to continue living here. If global warming is even a possibility then we have an obligation, a responsibility to do what we can to alleviate any of the known causes. The petroleum shortages of the seventies were an early wake up call for us; perhaps the first time we as a nation even gave our fuel usage any thought at all. Today the stakes are so much higher, and we also have much more to gain by taking steps to add alternative fuels to our petroleum usage.

I believe sound concepts, creative solutions, and communication are vital to effective problem solving. Standard Bio Diesel was created to address the problem of the staggering amount of pollutants and global warming contributors that the entertainment industry generates through its extensive use of petroleum diesel. We know that biodiesel is the alternative fuel answer for film, television, and commercial productions. Everything is already in place for its use, and the benefits for people and the environment are inarguable.

Richard Blackledge

Richard, a native of England, has a strong entrepreneurial background. Having relocated to Los Angeles in 2004 he was one of the founders of a biodiesel advocacy organization that helped raise awareness of the potential of biodiesel to a mass audience, publishing books and videos. Richard was honored by former President Bill Clinton for the biodiesel relief effort he coordinated following the Katrina disaster and for his work to educate school children about the benefits of biodiesel and implement its use in school busses. His passion for researching the potential for alternative feedstocks for biodiesel and his contacts in this field will help position Standard BioDiesel in future growth and diversification.
